Feminist Frequency is an educational non-profit website that examines female representations in the popular media narratives. Committed to destroying the stereotypes that are associated with women in pop media, she is also working on issues related the targeted harassment women and others online. Sarkeesian has a degree in the fields of social thought and political science at York University. She is also a highly-respected public speaking. Sarkeesian gave speeches to the TEDxWomen Festival as well as to the United Nations Broadband Working Group. She has been interested in gender issues and feminism from a very young stage of her life. In 2009, when she was continuing to study at the university level, she created the Feminist Frequency web site. She had a plan to launch an internet series that examined the gender roles in games but was the target of a harassment campaign online. This attack didn't stop her, but instead strengthened her determination as an activist for women in media. To honor the numerous achievements she's made for feminism, she is awarded numerous prizes. Anita Sarkeesian has been a media critic for several years and founded Feminist Frequency. This non-profit educational organization studies women's roles in the pop-culture narratives.
