
American actor Thomas William Selleck. His breakout role was playing private investigator Thomas Magnum in the television series Magnum, P.I. (1980-1988) during which time he received five nominations for the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead actor in a Drama Series. He was awarded the award in 1985. From 2010 to 2010 Selleck has played the role of New York City Police Chief Frank Reagan. Since 2005, he has played the role of Jesse Stone, a troubled police chief in the small-town New York City. In addition, he has played in nine television films which are based on Robert B. Parker novels. Selleck has also played the character of Peter Mitchell, a bachelor architect in Three Men and a Baby (1987), and Three Men and a Little Lady (90). He has also been seen in over 50 different TV and film roles since Magnum, P.I., including the films Quigley Down Under, Mr. Lassiter and baseball. He was a recurring TV actor, playing Monica Geller's lover, Dr. Richard Burke, on Friends; Lance White, the likeable, naive lover, in The Rockford Files; and as A.J., the casino owner. He also had a part in the lead role on the television western The Sacketts, based on two of Louis L'Amour's books.Selleck is a California Army National Guard veteran and is a spokesperson for National Rifle Association (NRA) as well as an endorser in ads for National Review magazine, and co-founder of the Character Counts! organization.
