
Ormond was the daughter Josephine who was a lab technician, and John Ormond (a stockbroker) who lived in Epsom, Surrey. She is the second child of five children for her parents. The first time she performed in Guys and Dolls and My Fair Lady attracted the attention of many. She then attended Cranleigh School and Guildford High School. After one year of art school, she transferred to Webber-Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art and graduated in 1988. Ormond first appeared on British television in the 1989 drama Traffik The story revolves around the illegal heroin trade that flows from the far East into the streets of Europe. Ormond was the heroin-addicted daughter of the lead character and was also a Home Office minister working to combat the importation of heroin. The role was a hit and received overwhelmingly positive reviews.
